My process:
Activism: I see the decision to merge actual sustainable materials while
implementing “zero waste” designs into my creative work, as one form of artistic activism.
After initially looking to the natural world as a source and guide
for inspiration and subject matter, the next step for me is to be more actively aware of what actual materials I will be using, how they are produced, whether new or repurposed, and the long term environmental effects each one will have.
Next, I decide what particular design/subject will be my focus.
The sustainable fabrics I use are: cotton, hemp, linen, wool yarn, burlap, repurposed denim, silk and cotton thread. linen and hemp using significantly less water to grow.
The subject matter relates to the environment and keepers of the Land.
